Finland Sets Up Barriers on the Border with Russia at Midnight

The Finnish Border Guard stated today, Friday, that it will install barriers at border crossings with Russia, which it intends to close at midnight local time (22:00 GMT). The Finnish government decided yesterday, Thursday, to close four of its nine border crossings with Russia in response to the entry of asylum seekers into the Scandinavian country through its eastern border. The arrival of more than 200 asylum seekers to Finland this week prompted Finnish leaders to accuse Russia of transporting individuals to the border, a claim that Russia has denied.
