Strike and Closure of All External Departments at the Beirut Governmental Hospital

The Committee of Employees, Contractors, and Staff at the Beirut Governmental University Hospital announced a strike and closure of all external departments tomorrow, Thursday, December 7, 2023, while continuing to serve in-patients. A statement will be read on behalf of the protesting employees at 10 AM inside the hospital. The committee clarified in a statement that the protest is a result of the hospital's administration continuing to ignore the employees' right to receive their salaries and the financial administration's failure to properly process the salaries into the employees' accounts. This situation comes after a week into the month and amid difficult living conditions. The committee expressed hope that they would not be forced to escalate their actions in the coming days if a definitive solution to the hospital's administrative and financial crisis is not found.
