Ben Farhan and Guterres Discuss Efforts for a Ceasefire in Gaza

Today, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call from United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Both sides emphasized the importance of making further efforts to achieve an immediate ceasefire. During the call, Guterres referred to the letter he addressed to the President of the Security Council, in which he activated, for the first time since taking office, Article 99 of the UN Charter to call on the Security Council to address the grave threat facing the Gaza Strip, which warns of an impending humanitarian disaster. For his part, the Saudi Foreign Minister expressed the Kingdom's deep appreciation and support for the UN Secretary-General's justified and significant step in activating Article 99 of the UN Charter.
