The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has abandoned its plan to reinstate Russia's under-17 national team in European competitions and announced today, Tuesday, that it could not find a technical solution to allow their return. UEFA stated regarding the plan that was strongly opposed by Ukraine and other football associations, "This item has been removed from the agenda due to the failure to reach a technical solution allowing Russian teams to play." Following Russia's invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, UEFA decided to bar all Russian teams, both national and club, from participating in continental competitions.
