Title: Bakhmut: Ukrainian Forces Regain Some Positions from Russia

Ukrainian forces expelled Russian troops from some positions in the city of Bakhmut, according to a senior Ukrainian general on Monday. Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of ground forces, stated, "The situation is extremely difficult. At the same time, the enemy in certain areas of the city has faced a counterattack from our units and left some positions."

On Monday, Wagner Group leader Yevgeny Prigozhin mentioned that his fighters require around 300 tons of artillery shells daily for the attack on Bakhmut, but they only receive one-third of that amount. Prigozhin stated, "300 tons daily equates to ten shipping containers; that is not much at all."

Ukraine confirmed that its forces repelled more than 36 Russian attacks on a section of the eastern front line stretching from Bakhmut to Marinka, located to the immediate west of Donetsk. Kyiv is preparing for a highly anticipated counteroffensive to reclaim large areas of territory in the east and south that have been occupied by Russian forces following the invasion, which Moscow describes as a "special military operation."
