Judgment Against Fourth Police Officer in George Floyd Case

American media reported that a court ruling was issued today, Monday, sentencing former Minneapolis officer Tou Thao to four years and nine months for aiding and abetting the murder of George Floyd in 2020. Thao had previously received a two-year and four-month sentence after being convicted of violating Floyd's civil rights. Thao is the fourth and final officer to be sentenced in the murder case. Floyd's death sparked a wave of protests in the United States and several other countries due to racism and the brutal treatment by police forces. Thao's lawyers have not yet responded to requests for comment on Monday. Floyd, who was Black, was seen kneeling on the ground before his death while another officer had his knee on Floyd's neck during a failed arrest.
