The Palestinian movement "Hamas" accused Israel in a statement of assassinating its prominent member Omar Daraghmeh, whose death was announced on Monday while he was in an Israeli prison. Hamas identified the prominent leader as Omar Daraghmeh (58 years old) from the city of Tubas in the northern West Bank. They described his death as "assassination." The Israeli prison authorities stated earlier on Monday that a Palestinian prisoner born in 1965 died after "feeling unwell and going to the prison hospital for examination." However, they did not mention the name of the prisoner, only noting that he was from the northern West Bank. The Israeli prison authorities stated that they are reviewing the circumstances surrounding the prisoner’s death. A spokesperson for the prison authorities did not immediately respond to Hamas's accusation of killing Daraghmeh.
