UN Concerned About Russia's Human Rights Violations in Ukraine

A committee affiliated with the United Nations announced today that it is deeply concerned about human rights violations committed by Russian forces and private military groups in Ukraine, including torture, rape, extrajudicial killings, and the forced deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia. In its summary report on Russia, the UN Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination called on Russian authorities to investigate allegations of human rights violations committed during the invasion of Ukraine. In a statement, the committee expressed "deep concern about the grave human rights violations perpetrated by Russian military forces and private military groups during the ongoing armed conflict." There was no immediate comment from the Russian permanent mission to the UN in Geneva.
