Officially: FIFA Reveals the Winner of the Best Goal Award at the 2022 World Cup

Brazilian Richarlison has won the Best Goal award for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, presented by the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), for his goal scored against Serbia during the group stage. The official World Cup account on Twitter stated, "With your votes, and only yours, Brazilian Richarlison's goal against Serbia won the award for the best goal of the tournament."

Richarlison's victory for the best goal was determined by fan votes through FIFA's website. His goal surpassed those of several others, including: Saudi Arabia's Salem Al-Dawsari against Argentina, Brazilian Neymar da Silva against Croatia, Dutch Cody Gakpo against Ecuador, Argentine Enzo Fernandez against Mexico, Cameroon's Vincent Aboubakar against Serbia, Mexican Luis Chavez against Saudi Arabia, and French Kylian Mbappe against Poland.

This selection was made following a fan vote for 10 goals scored in the tournament, and after the voting period closed, Richarlison's goal was chosen.

Richarlison, 25 years old, scored three goals in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, leading his country's scoring list in a tournament from which the "Samba" team exited in the quarter-finals at the hands of Croatia, losing through penalties. The award for the best goal in the World Cup was introduced in 2006, and previous winners include Argentine Maxi Rodriguez, Uruguayan Diego Forlan, Colombian James Rodriguez, and French Benjamin Pavard.
