A statement issued by the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Saturday noted that China's special envoy to the Middle East met on Friday with representatives of the Arab League in China during an emergency session regarding the crisis in Gaza and the conflict between Hamas and Israel. During the meeting, envoy Chai Jun stated that China supports the important role of the Arab League, which comprises 22 members, in the "Palestinian issue," adding that it will continue to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people. The statement quoted Chai as saying, "The international community must seriously enhance its sense of the necessity to return to the right foundation of the two-state solution to achieve peaceful coexistence between the two states of Palestine and Israel."
