Twitter has conducted further job cuts in its trust and safety team, which deals with global content moderation and the unit related to hate speech and harassment. A Bloomberg report cited informed sources stating that at least 10 additional layoffs on Friday night affected employees in the company's offices in Dublin and Singapore. Bloomberg reported that among those laid off from the social media platform owned by billionaire Elon Musk were Noor Azhar bin Ayub, who was recently appointed head of site safety for the Asia-Pacific region, and Analouiza Dominguez, senior policy director for Twitter’s revenue.
The report also mentioned that employees in teams dealing with misinformation policy, global appeals, and government media on the platform were also let go. In this context, Twitter's vice president of trust and safety, Ella Irwin, confirmed to Reuters that the company had made some cuts to the team, without going into details. She stated in an email: "We have thousands of people on the trust and safety team working on content moderation, and we have not made cuts to those who are doing this work daily." She added that "some layoffs occurred in areas lacking the necessary capacity to move forward or where it makes sense to consolidate."
Twitter had previously laid off nearly 3,700 employees in early November as part of Musk's cost-cutting measures, with hundreds resigning later.
