The Vice President of the Yemeni Transitional Leadership Council, Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, announced that the U.S.-led coalition aimed at protecting maritime trade in the Red Sea from attacks by Iran-aligned Houthi rebels in Yemen is "weak," due to the lack of participation from regional powers like Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Egypt. In an interview with Reuters on Tuesday, Al-Zubaidi stated that the Bab al-Mandab Strait is crucial for the whole world and the region, therefore regional intervention is necessary. He pointed out that the disruptions caused by the attacks have inflicted severe losses on the Yemeni economy, which has already suffered a shock during the Houthis' war against the Saudi-led coalition.
