On Wednesday, Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur announced that Croatian midfielder Ivan Perisic will undergo surgery after sustaining an injury to the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his right knee, and he is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Tottenham stated in a press release: "The experienced Croatian international was injured during training, without contact with any player, and will undergo surgery." They added: "Ivan will then begin the rehabilitation process with our medical staff, and he is expected to be out of action until the end of the season."
Tottenham currently sits in second place in the Premier League with 13 points from five matches. They will face their London rival Arsenal in the league next Sunday. The 34-year-old Croatian winger has appeared as a substitute in all five of his team's Premier League matches this season.
Perisic's contract with Tottenham is set to expire on June 30, 2024.
