The first round of the UAE Modern Rowing Championship will kick off tomorrow, Saturday, at the breakwater in Abu Dhabi. This event is organized by the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club, in collaboration with the UAE Sailing and Modern Rowing Federation, under the patronage of Sheikh Mohammed bin Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Club.
The opening round of the season will see the participation of 70 rowers and competitors from the Abu Dhabi Modern Rowing Team, Al Hamriya Club, Dubai Police Rowing Team, Dubai Rowing Club, Abu Dhabi Rowing Club, British Club, New York University Abu Dhabi, and Monti Rowing Club.
The championship features 16 different categories of modern rowing, including individual, doubles, and quadruple events, as well as various age categories, along a course approximately 1000 meters long, starting from the corniche to the club.
Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Academy at the club, emphasized the significance of the opening round of modern rowing at the start of the competition season. He added, "The championship witnesses competition among youth and champions for the top positions in order to achieve good rankings. We are keen to provide the best for this sport and elevate the competitors to an outstanding level."
