Shortly after the security operation conducted in the Salim neighborhood yesterday, which resulted in the death of a Syrian and the arrest of two others, the Lebanese Army intensified its measures in the area. Military vehicles and tanks were present around the home of the Syrian suspect "Wissam Mazen Della". The head of the security office in the southern suburbs, Colonel Maher Raad, also arrived to inspect Della's relatives' home. A young Syrian, suspected of being involved in the July attack in Sayyida Zainab, Damascus, which killed at least six people, died after jumping from a building during a raid in the southern suburbs of Beirut yesterday.
A security source stated that the 23-year-old, who illegally entered Lebanon, was staying with relatives in the Salim neighborhood. The source added, "Members of Hezbollah raided the site fearing he might initiate any action, and when he realized that his location was uncovered, he jumped from the seventh floor and was taken to St. George Hospital, where he died." The source also mentioned that two of his relatives were detained.
Syrian state media reported that a car bomb exploded on the outskirts of the Sayyida Zainab neighborhood south of Damascus on July 27, killing six people. The Islamic State (ISIS) claimed responsibility for the attack the following day.
