The decision to cancel the Saudi Union's match with Sepahan Isfahan in the AFC Champions League has sparked controversy regarding the second Iranian-Saudi clash, which will bring Al-Hilal against their host Nassaji in the same competition. Al-Hilal is scheduled to visit Nassaji at the "Azadi" Stadium in Tehran tonight, Tuesday, as part of the second round of group stage matches in the AFC Champions League.
Reports have circulated in recent hours about the possibility of Al-Hilal withdrawing from the match in solidarity with the Union's position. This is not the only reason, as more banners bearing political slogans and figures have appeared in Tehran ahead of the match with the Saudi teams participating in the AFC Champions League.
However, the "kooora" website cited a source stating that the match between Al-Hilal and Nassaji will take place as scheduled by the Asian Football Confederation, regardless of the Union and Sepahan's canceled match. Moreover, Iranian journalist Davood Eghdari clarified the truth about Al-Hilal's withdrawal from the match against Nassaji, confirming that the game will happen as planned. Eghdari wrote on his account on the X platform: "The cancellation of the Al-Hilal match is a lie... The match between Al-Hilal and Nassaji will take place at the scheduled time at Azadi Stadium."
