Resignation of Cairo International Film Festival Director After Postponement of This Year's Edition

The Cairo International Film Festival announced today, Thursday, the resignation of director Amir Ramsis from his position after just one term. The festival's management stated in a brief announcement that Ramsis submitted his resignation, which was accepted by the festival's president, artist Hussein Fahmy. Egyptian Minister of Culture Nevine El-Kilani announced in October the postponement of the festival's 45th edition to a later date due to the ongoing events in the Gaza Strip. Egypt has postponed other film and music festivals since the outbreak of the conflict between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) on October 7. The Cairo International Film Festival, founded in 1976, is the only Arab film festival classified as a category A international film festival according to the International Producers Association.
