The Israeli War Council will meet this Thursday evening to discuss a Qatari proposal presented to Tel Aviv regarding a new prisoner exchange deal with Hamas. Israeli Channel 12 reported that Mossad Chief David Barnea and Reserve General Nitzan Alon have been invited to attend the meeting as they are authorized on the issue of Israeli prisoners.
The channel added that the Qatari offer is based on a previous Israeli proposal calling for the release of 40 Israeli prisoners held in the Gaza Strip. It clarified that "this number includes women, children, the elderly, and the wounded in exchange for a generous release of Palestinian prisoners by Israel and a ceasefire for a duration of two weeks."
According to Channel 12, the discussion in the War Council will address the Qatari proposal once the negotiating parties, the Mossad Chief and General Nitzan Alon, reach an agreement. The Hebrew channel noted that the Qatari proposal arrived in Israel on Thursday morning.
