Canadian Sanctions Against Settlers in the West Bank and Hamas Leaders

Canadian Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly announced today, Sunday, that Canada will impose sanctions on Israeli settlers who incite violence in the West Bank and new sanctions on leaders of the Palestinian resistance movement (Hamas). In an interview with CBC today, Joly stated that some settlers "will be sanctioned... and we will also impose new sanctions on Hamas leaders." Speaking from Ukraine, she added, "We are working hard on this... While I am here in Ukraine, I am ensuring that work is being carried out in Ottawa, and I look forward to making an announcement soon." Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Friday that he is considering sanctions against "extremist" settlers in the West Bank.
