Paris Presents Written Proposal to Lebanon to De-escalate South

France has submitted a written proposal to Beirut aimed at ending the escalation between Israel and Hezbollah and reaching a settlement regarding the disputed borders between Lebanon and Israel. According to a document seen by Reuters, the proposal calls for fighters, including the party's elite unit, to withdraw 10 kilometers from the border.

The three-phase French proposal seeks to implement a "possible ceasefire when conditions are appropriate" and urges Lebanon to start deploying up to 15,000 army troops in the southern part of the country. The plan aims to end the fighting between Hezbollah and Israel across the border.

Four senior Lebanese officials and three French officials stated that French Foreign Minister Stéphane Sigogne handed the document last week to senior Lebanese officials, including caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati. This is the first written proposal presented to Beirut amid weeks of Western mediation.

MP Hassan Fadlallah commented on the French proposal, stating that Hezbollah will not discuss any issues related to southern Lebanon until the Israeli attack on Gaza ceases, emphasizing that "Israel is not in a position to impose conditions."
