Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc crashed during his final lap on Saturday, yet he will start from pole position in the first independent sprint race at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, part of the Formula 1 World Championship. Leclerc, who has only scored six points from the first three races, stated, "Ferrari needs to be on top, and I will do absolutely everything to win." He added, "The rear tires were too hot on the second lap, and I tried to push harder for a better lap time but lost the tires."
Leclerc, hailing from Monaco, will start from the front not only in the sprint race tomorrow but also in the main race after topping the practice sessions on Friday. Mexican driver Sergio Perez will join Leclerc in the front row for the sprint race, while his Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen, the championship leader, will start from third, and British driver George Russell of Mercedes will be in fourth place.
