Qatar criticized comments made by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday, in which he allegedly urged Qatar to pressure the Palestinian Islamic resistance movement (Hamas) to release hostages. Qatar described these comments as merely another attempt by Netanyahu to procrastinate and prolong the war in Gaza. Netanyahu had indicated that "the release of hostages in the Gaza Strip could occur through strong military action and very rigorous negotiations."
