The fall of a glowing celestial body near the city of Marrakech has caught the attention of many activists on social media, with some claiming to have witnessed it from other cities like Essaouira, and others stating it was "a giant meteorite the size of an asteroid," according to the newspaper "Hespress." The Oukaimeden Observatory in Marrakech observed the fall of this luminous object on Sunday evening, while efforts continue to study it and accurately determine its landing location. In this context, Zouhair Benkhaldoun, the director of the Oukaimeden Astronomical Observatory affiliated with Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech, stated that “the fallen body is a giant meteorite, not like the ordinary ones we know.” The director confirmed that "based on the examination of images from the four cameras, it has been determined that this is indeed a meteorite of a very large size, and not simply a meteor as has been circulated." The same spokesperson revealed that the mentioned observatory is in the process of studying the available scientific data "to identify the parent body, meaning to know the source of the giant meteors."
