The German government announced today, Friday, that the Russian oil giant Rosneft has started selling its German assets and aims to complete the process by September, when the next extension of Berlin’s guardianship expires. A spokesman for the German Ministry of Economy stated in a statement: "Rosneft Russia has now announced that it has begun the sale process and wants to complete it within the guardianship extension period." He added: "We will verify this, including further legal guarantees. The main goal of our actions remains to secure energy supplies, especially the operations of the PCK Schwedt refinery." Following the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Berlin placed Rosneft's assets in Germany under guardianship in September 2022, including the main PCK refinery in Berlin. The guardianship has been extended since then, and Rosneft's case challenging the decision was rejected last year.
