Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti explained that the secret behind renewing his contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2026 lies in the team's success over the past years and this year as well. The president of the Brazilian Football Confederation, Ednaldo Rodrigues, announced last July that Ancelotti would take over as the national team's coach starting with the Copa America set to take place in the United States in June 2024. However, Real Madrid announced in a statement on its official website last Friday that the 64-year-old Carlo Ancelotti would be linked to Real Madrid until June 30, 2026.
Ancelotti stated in comments to Spanish radio "Cadena Cope": "I renewed my contract because the team has been successful in the past years, and this year it has also achieved success." He added: "For me, Real Madrid is above everything; we are a family, and the atmosphere that this club creates around it is very familial, starting with president Florentino Perez."
He clarified: "Each one of us reaches the best in ourselves because we work in a family environment." Ancelotti concluded: "I consider Perez as the head of the family and a man who has achieved in football what no one else has managed to achieve, and he continues to maintain a very strong motivation as he is the club's number one fan."
Carlo Ancelotti has managed Real Madrid during two terms, first between 2013-2015 and the second since 2021 until now. He is the first coach to win the title of champion in the five major European leagues, which include Italy, England, France, Germany, and Spain. He is also the only coach to have won the UEFA Champions League four times and holds the record for the most wins in the history of this competition, with a total of 118 victories.
