At least 11 park visitors have been found dead following a volcanic eruption in West Indonesia, according to a local rescue official who spoke to AFP today. Abdul Malik, head of the search and rescue agency in Padang, stated: "There are 26 individuals who have not been evacuated; we have found 14 of them, three are alive and 11 are deceased." The volcano erupted in West Indonesia on Sunday, sending an ash column rising up to three thousand meters, prompting the evacuation of dozens of visitors around its crater, officials reported. Authorities have imposed a no-go zone around the crater of Mount Merapi, located on the island of Sumatra, which stands at 2,891 meters, after raising its alert level to the third highest.
