Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received the caretaker Minister of Economy Amin Salam today, Monday, in Ain al-Tineh. Minister Salam briefed President Berri on the outcomes of his extensive visit to Qatar. Following the meeting, Minister Salam stated: "The visit to the President is to inform him of the results of our prolonged trip to Doha and the generous State of Qatar. We briefed him on our tour, the results of our visit, and the files that were discussed, which are very important for Lebanon in the economic, political, and social domains."
He added: "We also discussed with the President the possibilities that the State of Qatar offers to support Lebanon in the fields of energy and transportation, as well as other social-related files that have significant impacts on economic conditions and the general economic climate. We informed the President of all positive data, and he expressed full support to follow up on these matters. He also provided us with all the support needed to continue pursuing this file through the Lebanese-Qatari high joint committee, which will convene, God willing, at the beginning of next year to follow up on all these files."
President Berri also met with the United Nations Special Coordinator for Lebanon Joanna Wronecka, during which general conditions and political and field developments were discussed.
