France has successfully conducted a test launch of the M 51.3 strategic ballistic missile without a nuclear payload on Saturday from the Land region in the southwest of the country, according to the French Ministry of Armed Forces. Minister of Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu stated on X platform: "The first successful test of the strategic ballistic missile M 51.3," adding, "This development sustains the credibility of our nuclear deterrent and demonstrates the superiority of our launch sector," as reported by "AFP."
The launch was overseen by the General Directorate of Armaments from the Land site, as per a statement from the Ministry of Armed Forces, which confirmed that it "contributes to sustaining the credibility of our deterrent capabilities over the coming decades."
The ministry further noted, "The missile was monitored throughout its flight phase through the testing resources of the General Directorate of Armaments. The impact area is located in the northern Atlantic Ocean, hundreds of kilometers from all coasts." It concluded by stating, "This test was conducted without a nuclear payload and in strict compliance with France's international commitments."
