This Tuesday evening, a residential building in the Basta area on Al-Ma'moun Street was evacuated due to warnings of its potential collapse. The Beirut Fire Brigade oversaw the evacuation process, and an engineer went to inspect the building.
In detail, the Governor of Beirut, Judge Marwan Abboud, ordered the evacuation of the Fawaz building located on property number 2034 in the Basta area, opposite Fathallah Barracks, until inspection operations are completed. It was found that there were cracks in the first and second floors; however, the risk of the building collapsing does not exceed 40%. The building will be inspected again on Wednesday morning to further assess its condition.
