Residents and police reported today, Monday, that "gunmen kidnapped at least 87 people, including women and children, in Nigeria's Kaduna state." Kaduna police spokesman Mansour Hassan confirmed that the incident occurred in Kagoro Station village on Sunday evening, but he could not specify the number of missing individuals. Tanko Wada Sarki, a village leader, stated, "87 people were kidnapped." He added to Reuters via phone, "So far, we have recorded five people returning to their homes after escaping through the bushes."
