Finance Ministry Completes Procedures for Printing Thirty Million Stamps

Lebanon's caretaker Minister of Finance, Youssef Khalil, announced today, Friday, in a statement that "the ministry has completed the preparations for printing thirty million stamps of the twenty, one hundred, two hundred, and four hundred thousand Lebanese pounds denominations." He pointed out that "the ministry will release ten million stamps of the five thousand pound denomination in the markets next week." He noted that "the ministry has begun installing machines for stamping financial stamps in several official centers, particularly in the Public Finance Directorate's accounting offices, with plans to expand to wider-reaching centers gradually."

Khalil also held an administrative meeting where they reviewed the progress of work after suspending their strike, praising "the efforts made by all directorates to ensure the payment of salaries and pensions to all public sector employees, military personnel from all branches, and retirees within just a few days that did not exceed four."

Khalil signed a decision aimed at providing temporary compensation to all public sector workers and retirees benefiting from a pension, as stipulated in Decree 13020, with the differences for two months to be disbursed in the last week of this month, specifically starting from March 22, 2024.
