The Spanish newspaper "Marca" revealed that Brazilian player Dani Alves, a former star of FC Barcelona and the Brazilian national team, is planning to escape from prison, where he is being held on charges of sexual assault. Alves was arrested by Spanish police on January 20, 2023, for allegedly assaulting a young woman in a nightclub in Barcelona. The Spanish prosecutor's office refused to release him on bail, fearing he might flee back to his home country.
In late June 2023, Dani Alves spoke to "La Vanguardia" for the first time since his arrest, stating, "I did not commit any wrongdoing that night." He added, "My conscience is completely clear in this regard, because everything that happened between us was consensual, and I did nothing wrong." The former Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain star continued, "I initially lied, saying that I did nothing, fearing it would destroy my marriage." He went on to admit that he was in a relationship with the girl, insisting that everything that happened was consensual and not against her will.
He also mentioned, "My wife fought hard for our marriage to continue, which is why I did not want to admit it from the start." Marca reported that Dani Alves has a plan to escape from prison, especially given his status as a famous footballer, along with many connections, money, and friends who could assist him in this endeavor.
