Israel Requests Smart Bombs and Missiles from America for Iron Dome

An Israeli military official and an American official told CNN early this Monday that Israel has requested smart bombs and additional interceptive missiles for the Iron Dome system from the United States. The Israeli military official mentioned that the army may request more capabilities and weapons from Washington depending on the developments in the operation against Hamas.

On the other hand, a spokesperson for the U.S. National Security Council stated that many American citizens have died since the start of the surprise attack launched by the Palestinian Hamas movement on Israel, adding that American officials are still in contact with their Israeli counterparts.

Palestinian factions launched a wide-scale surprise attack from Gaza on towns and residential areas surrounding the Gaza Strip on Saturday, resulting in the deaths of more than 700 Israelis and injuries to over 2,000 others. Israel responded by launching a military operation in the Strip, which has so far resulted in the deaths of 413 Palestinians and injuries to 2,300.
