Paris Chefs Prepare to Feed Athletes at the 2024 Olympics

Chefs in Paris are preparing for a challenging task during the 2024 Olympic Games in the French capital, where they will present 550 types of meals for 15,000 athletes. The chefs will be responsible for preparing around 40 tons of food daily to cater to various tastes and cultures. Chef Charles Gilleau, CEO of the Sodexo Live group, which will oversee round-the-clock meal services in the Olympic Village located north of Paris, will lead a team of 300 people dedicated to feeding attendees from 206 countries.

Sodexo Live previously provided meals for participants at the French Open tennis tournament and those at the French National Football Institute. Gilleau stated in remarks to Reuters while preparing one of his famous meals, "We will welcome the world to our table. We aim to source 25 percent of our meal ingredients from local suppliers. The menus are ready and have been approved by the International Olympic Committee and the organizing committee for the Paris 2024 Olympics. There will be one main dining hall in the Cinema district (the restaurant area in the Olympic Village) featuring six restaurants, along with another hall in Évin-Malmaison (both located within the Olympic Village covering 52 hectares)."

Additionally, a bakery will open its doors, inviting athletes to participate in workshops to prepare their own bread. Services will commence on July 10, 16 days before the Olympic Games begin, and will continue until September 12, four days after the conclusion of the Paralympic Games, with the assistance of 1,000 staff working around the clock in the village.
