Egyptian Bar Association Requests Suspension of

A number of members of the Egyptian Bar Association have submitted a memorandum to the Ministry of Culture, requesting the suspension of the remaining episodes of the series "Ni'mat Al-Avocado," starring actress Mai Omar, which is being aired during the current Ramadan drama season. They argue that the series mocks the legal profession and includes numerous inaccuracies regarding the field throughout its episodes.

The Bar Association's demands came in solidarity with the complaint submitted by lawyer Ayman Mahfouz to the Egyptian Minister of Culture, Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, in which he calls for the ban on the remaining episodes of the series. Mahfouz explained in his complaint that the series contains scenes that encourage criminal behavior and portray sympathy for crime, in addition to depicting lawyers using illegal means of mediation, which tarnishes their professional image.

Mahfouz stated that the series includes "sexual innuendos" and vulgar language since its first episode, as well as scenes that show empathy for criminals and encourage viewers to imitate these crimes. Furthermore, it humiliates the legal profession by portraying "lawyers' reliance on criminals and illegal mediation, as well as obtaining fees in exchange for sexual favors."
