Dani Alves Returns €150,000 to Neymar's Father

Brazilian Dani Alves returned €150,000 to the father of his teammate Neymar, a player for Al Hilal, as compensation mandated by a Spanish court. The Barcelona court had sentenced Alves, the former Barcelona defender, to four and a half years in prison for sexual assault against a woman. Alves was released from custody after the court granted his bail, set at €1 million, which reports indicated was paid by Neymar's father. Neymar's father had previously denied in March, a month after the conviction, that he or his son or family would pay the bail approved by the Barcelona court for Alves's temporary release while his appeal was considered. Alves's lawyer, Ines Guardiola, stated in comments reported by French newspaper "Le Parisien": "Dani Alves returned the €150,000 to Neymar a week ago." Neymar's father had stated last January that he had financially assisted Alves, a move that drew widespread criticism against him in Brazil.
