Ezequiel Palacios, the 2022 World Cup champion with Argentina and Bayer Leverkusen, has had his personal belongings stolen and sold by his partner, who justified her actions by claiming he was not fulfilling his financial responsibilities. Palacios played a total of 47 minutes in the last World Cup, spread across three matches, leading to Argentina's third World Cup title, and he kept the championship medal and the jerseys he wore during the matches. However, his partner, Yessica Frias, erased those precious memories by selling the valuable items.
Palacios and Frias separated last year, but that hasn’t stopped her from selling his belongings to meet her financial needs for her apartment in Argentina. Palacios is moving towards divorce after she sold his items, and Frias admitted to selling the jersey from Argentina's victory over France in the 2022 World Cup final and his gold medal.
Frias attached a post on Instagram featuring her ex-husband's belongings alongside the buyer and explained her reasons to an Argentine media outlet called "El Trisi," stating: "He doesn't want to continue paying the installments for his apartment in Tigre because he doesn't know if he will own it or not."
Frias intends to continue selling her husband's items and shirts to cover her debts regarding her living situation in Argentina: "I want him to sign the divorce papers; what I’m asking for is what is mine, and I am not claiming his belongings in Germany." She further dropped a bombshell by saying: "It’s better for him that I stay silent; there are some things about the Argentine national team that I have not said yet."
Palacios and Frias first met in 2018 before the 25-year-old married the five years older model in 2021, but they separated in April of last year.
