The Digital Media Center (DMC) in Iraq confirmed today that penalties await those who publish fabricated images related to the case of Basra Dean, Mohanad Jawad Al-Kadhim. The center's official spokesman, Hussein Al-Mawla, stated in a press release received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that "a large number of photos and videos are spreading daily across various social media platforms, claiming to be linked to the incident involving the college dean in Basra." He clarified that "these actions constitute a misuse of social media, with negative impacts on women's lives." He emphasized that "such behaviors are punishable under Iraqi penal law, with penalties including imprisonment and fines or either one of the two." Al-Mawla urged anyone harmed by these actions to "turn to the appropriate judicial authorities to file criminal lawsuits against those individuals or pages responsible for this reprehensible act." He also called on all users to "avoid using social media platforms to gain interactions at the expense of girls and their reputations."
