The Egypt national football team, led by Portuguese coach Rui Vitoria, continued its training at Cairo Stadium in preparation for the match against Djibouti scheduled for Thursday at 6 PM, in the first round of the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.
The second training session witnessed the full attendance of the Egyptian squad today, Wednesday, with the presence of Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Mohamed, and Omar Marmoush participating in the practice.
The squad includes 25 players: Mohamed El Shenawy, Mohamed Sobhi, Ahmed El Shenawy, Mohamed Hani, Omar Kamal, Ali Gabr, Mohamed Abdel-Moneim, Ahmed Sami, Rami Rabia, Mohamed Hamdi, Ahmed Fattouh, Tamer Hossam, Marwan Attia, Mohamed Elneny, Imam Ashour, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, Mahmoud Hamada, Hamdi Fathi, Mohamed Salah, Mostafa Fathi, Mostafa Mohamed, Mohamed Sherif, Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet, Omar Marmoush, and Hussein El Shahat.
The draw for the African qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup placed Egypt in Group A alongside five other teams: Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Ethiopia, and Djibouti.
The next World Cup finals will take place in June and July 2026, hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
The number of African teams qualifying for the World Cup has increased to more than nine, following a change in the system to feature 48 teams in the tournament for the first time, replacing the previous format of 32 teams.
