It seems that the Saudi club Al-Ittihad is seriously moving towards one of this summer’s surprises, before the Saudi transfer window closes on September 7th. A source close to Egyptian star Mohamed Salah of Liverpool revealed to the Saudi newspaper "Al-Riyadiyah" that "Al-Ittihad is in serious negotiations with the Egyptian pharaoh."
The source stated: "There are indeed talks, that’s all I can say. Until now, I don’t have further details, but the offer must be attractive for the Egyptian star to come and play in Saudi Arabia, as Salah still has much to offer in England."
Furthermore, "Al-Riyadiyah" disclosed the financial details of the offer, indicating that "it amounts to 180 million euros for the player over two seasons, in addition to 60 million pounds sterling to buy the remaining duration of his contract with Liverpool."
Mohamed Salah's agent, Ramy Abbas, commented on the rumors regarding the possibility of the latter transferring to Al-Ittihad during the current summer transfer window through his account on the platform "X": "If we were considering leaving Liverpool this year, we would not have renewed the contract last summer." He added: "Salah is still committed to the Reds."
Mohamed Salah, who is 31 years old, has a contract with Liverpool for two more seasons, ending at the end of the 2024-2025 season. Saudi league transfers have occupied global headlines with several successful international signings, most notably Al-Ittihad signing Frenchman Karim Benzema, Al-Ahli acquiring Algerian star Riyad Mahrez, and Al-Nasr landing Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian star is tied to a contract with Liverpool until 2025 and is currently preparing for the start of the English Premier League season. Liverpool will not participate in the Champions League this season due to finishing outside the top four in the Premier League last season.
