Minister of Youth and Sports George Klass and UNICEF Representative in Lebanon Edward Pigbedir signed the work plan between the two parties for the years 2024 and 2025. Present at the signing from the ministry were Director General of Facilities Mohamed Aouidat, Head of the Public Relations Department Hassan Sharara, and Director of the Minister's Office Hussein Omar, along with the team responsible for the youth and adolescents section from UNICEF.
The work plan includes the establishment of a joint committee from various ministries to implement the youth policy prepared since 2012, as well as the effort to create an effective national youth body to participate in and follow up on the execution of the national youth work plan. Additionally, the work plan supports the ministry as a host for the closing ceremony of Beirut as the Capital of Arab Youth 2023, which will take place next March.
It also aims to enhance the institutional capacity of the ministry by developing new guiding and standard frameworks, conducting a comprehensive evaluation of sports clubs, youth centers, and youth houses, enhancing data management practices, and contributing to the digital transformation of the ministry. Furthermore, the plan includes initiatives to strengthen the capabilities of youth, bolster national and local community volunteer platforms, and provide training courses for both genders, especially for young women and girls, to improve life skills and empowerment, with a focus on those who are most marginalized.
