In the last few hours, new developments have emerged regarding the injury suffered by Al Ahly's star, Hussein El Shahat, during his team's match against Tanzanian side Simba last Friday in the return leg of the CAF Champions League quarter-finals. El Shahat sustained a concerning head injury in the final minutes of the match, and the Egyptian player was taken to the hospital after the game to ensure his health.
Al Ahly reassured the fans about El Shahat, stating that he will leave the hospital after 48 hours following surgery to repair a facial bone fracture. Egyptian media revealed the latest updates on El Shahat's health status, noting that he is suffering from a fracture in the orbital bone and a side fracture.
The report added, "The player was supposed to be discharged from the hospital on Saturday evening, but doctors preferred to keep him under observation for an additional 24 hours due to the concussion he felt and to conduct some tests due to the strong injury to his face. There was also slight dizziness, and the scans confirmed the presence of two fractures, one in the face and the other below the right eye."
It was clarified that "the player is in good condition, was with his family, and has started to move around. However, due to the facial injury, El Shahat will undergo surgical intervention and will remain in the hospital to treat the facial fracture. His absence from the pitch is expected to last about a month, including a recovery period."
The report continued, "His memory is good. On Friday, he was just disoriented and did not eat well due to jaw pain, but he will wear a mask upon his return to the field and will miss the two semi-final matches of the CAF Champions League."
