Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani met Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati today, Friday, on the sidelines of his participation in the Munich Security Conference 2024. During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and Lebanon and ways to enhance exchanges in areas of mutual interest, benefiting both brotherly countries. The Iraqi Prime Minister emphasized the ongoing aggression against Gaza and its threat to regional stability, calling for an end to this aggression and the prevention of its escalation, as well as an end to the genocide faced by the Palestinian people and attempts to broaden the conflict through attacks on Lebanon and its borders. He reaffirmed Iraq's commitment to raising the level of exchange and integration with friendly and neighboring countries in the region, providing means for development and opportunities for their peoples, and ways to overcome economic crises. For his part, Mikati stressed Lebanon's commitment to consolidating security and stability in the region and continuing constructive cooperation with Iraq in all areas, expressing gratitude for Iraq's supportive stances towards Lebanon and for providing fuel and assistance to help the Lebanese people face economic difficulties and challenges.
