Dubai's ruler, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, announced on Sunday that he has ordered the construction of a new passenger terminal at Al Maktoum International Airport with a cost of 128 billion dirhams (34.85 billion dollars). In a post on the social media platform X, he stated that Al Maktoum International Airport will be the largest in the world with a final capacity of 260 million passengers. He added that it will be five times the capacity of the current Dubai International Airport and that all operations from Dubai International Airport will be transferred there in the coming years. He noted that the airport will feature 400 aircraft gates and five parallel runways, and it will use new technologies for the first time in the aviation sector.
