The Prime Minister, Mohamed Shia al-Sudani, confirmed the ability of security forces to pursue those responsible for attacks on diplomatic missions. The media office of the Prime Minister stated in a release today, Wednesday, that "Prime Minister Mohamed Shia al-Sudani received a phone call yesterday, Tuesday, from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, during which several topics and files related to bilateral relations between Iraq and the United States were discussed, as well as ways to enhance them, in addition to addressing the most important developments in regional and international arenas." Al-Sudani affirmed during the call that "Iraq is keen on building partnerships and cooperative relationships with brotherly and friendly countries, and on working together to face economic, security, and climate challenges, which supports efforts to establish stability in the region." He emphasized "Iraq's commitment to protecting diplomatic missions and advisors," asserting "the capability of Iraqi security forces to carry out their duties in pursuing those who attack diplomatic missions, without the intervention of any external parties." For his part, Secretary Blinken confirmed "the continuation of joint work and communication between the two sides," welcoming "the Iraqi government's measures to secure diplomatic missions and embassies operating in Iraq, and to pursue the elements behind the attacks on them."
