The Turkish Ministry of Commerce reported today, Tuesday, that Turkey will impose restrictions on the export of products from 54 different categories to Israel until a ceasefire is declared in the Gaza Strip, adding that the measures will take effect immediately. In a statement following Ankara's announcement that it would take action after Israel rejected its request to participate in the airdrop of aid, the ministry stated that the restrictions would include iron and steel products, construction materials, machinery, and others. The ministry clarified that Turkish trade restrictions on Israel will apply to 54 products. According to Bloomberg, this Turkish move came after thousands of protesters condemned Erdogan over the weekend for maintaining trade with Israel despite the ongoing war in Gaza. The Turkish Ministry of Commerce said, "This decision will remain in effect until Israel announces an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and allows for adequate and uninterrupted flow of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip."
