WhatsApp has introduced a new feature in the app that allows users to link their accounts with their email addresses. This new feature is available to users through the latest app update for iPhone with version number 23.24.70, and it is expected to be released for Android users in the coming days.
Linking a WhatsApp account to an email address enables users to receive a 6-digit verification code via email when logging into their account, in case they do not receive it through an SMS. This provides an alternative login method for users who may temporarily be unable to receive the verification code via text messages, although they still need to use a phone number to create an account, and logging in with the phone number remains an available option.
It is important to note that email addresses do not replace phone numbers; rather, they provide users with an additional way to access accounts created using their phone numbers. WhatsApp is gradually rolling out this new feature, and users only need to update their app to the latest version available in the app store to access it.
To link their accounts with their email, users can go to the app settings, tap on "Account," then choose "Add your email." Upon entering the email and pressing "Next," the app will send a code to the email to complete the linking process. It should be noted that the email address will not be visible to any other accounts on WhatsApp.
