Preparations for the Meeting Between Burhan and Hamidti Completed... Will They Meet Soon?

Following discussions about a potential meeting between Sudanese Army Commander Abdel Fattah Burhan and Rapid Support Forces Leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo "Hamidti," the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has provided an update on the matter. Sources indicated today, Wednesday, that the atmosphere has been prepared for a meeting between the two sides of the conflict, with a fruitful discussion scheduled for tomorrow, according to the organization. They added that arrangements for the meeting between Burhan and Hamidti tomorrow, Thursday, have been finalized. It was also announced that confirmations of both parties' agreement had been received.

However, an advisor to Hamidti stated early Wednesday that no official invitation for a meeting with Burhan had been delivered to the RSF leader. Notably, Hamidti had confirmed his readiness to meet in a tweet on Tuesday. Additionally, a statement from the Rapid Support Forces denied reports circulating on social media that the RSF's second-in-command, Abdul Rahim Hamdan Dagalo, would be meeting Burhan, considering this an attempt to cover up a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that distanced itself from the commitments of the IGAD summit held in Djibouti last Saturday.

It is worth mentioning that the Intergovernmental Authority on Development in Africa (IGAD) had called for Burhan and Hamidti to meet to agree on a ceasefire and discuss ways to facilitate the delivery of relief materials.
