Kuwait announced today, Friday, the results of the National Assembly elections for the five electoral districts, amid reports of a 20% change in the composition of the new council. His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammad Sabah Al-Salem Al-Sabah congratulated the winners of the 2024 National Assembly membership.
A total of 10 representatives who were not members of the recently dissolved 2023 Assembly have reached membership in the Kuwaiti parliament, which consists of 50 elected deputies. Of these, 7 are entering the council for the first time, while 3 have returned from previous councils to the 2023 Assembly.
Among the 50 elected members of the National Assembly, only one woman succeeded in winning a seat in the third district, namely the former minister and deputy Janan Ramadan.
Janan Ramadan, born in 1973, holds a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University, a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University, and a Ph.D. from Ain Shams University in Egypt. She was a member of the National Assembly (2022 annulled - 2023). Ramadan was appointed a member of the Municipal Council in 2009 and served as an advisor in the Kuwaiti National Assembly. She was also appointed a member of the Central Tenders Committee and held the position of Minister of Public Works and Minister of State for Housing Affairs in 2018.
