"The Kataeb": Opposition Solidarity Prevents Lebanon from Falling into the Hands of "Hezbollah"

The political office of the Lebanese Kataeb Party warned against Hezbollah's plan to use Palestinian camps in Lebanon as a "battlefield to increase its influence and that of the militias aligned with it, handing Iran a new bargaining chip in its ongoing negotiations on multiple fronts in the region." It stated, "It is no secret to anyone, whether in the public domain or among those responsible for the issue, the role played by Hezbollah in facilitating the entry of armed militants into the Ain al-Hilweh camp and providing them with the necessary manpower and equipment to execute this plan."

The political office also cautioned the authorities responsible for the issue against concealing any entity undermining security in Lebanon at a time when decision-making centers are systematically being emptied with premeditation and design.

The political office expressed astonishment at the official statements affirming the lack of evidence regarding the existence of serious security events in the future, especially as recent events surprised everyone and nearly spiraled out of control, revealing the system's confusion and its inability to manage such a critical issue, which it left in the hands of parties to deal with in a way that suits them.

The office urged the ministers in the caretaker government to stop making impromptu statements that intensify diplomatic crises, leading Lebanon each time to provide clarifications and justifications that do not serve its standing or reputation in the world, affirming that the current ruling class lacks the minimum qualifications to continue speaking on behalf of Lebanon, with the election of a new president being the only way to restore a responsible authority.

The Kataeb Party noted that Hezbollah and its team continue to obstruct the election of a president for the republic, "as evidenced by its officials' statements revealing their intention to impose their candidate on all Lebanese regardless of the cost, a fact proven in the past and one they will not hesitate to repeat, unconcerned about the expanding void and the collapse of institutions along with the economy and finances, as their only concern is to achieve their interests, protect their weapons, and serve their regional patron."

It emphasized that the presidential elections are a crucial juncture to prevent Lebanon from falling under Hezbollah's control for another six years, stating, "Any new slide of this kind will entrench this militia-party as the ultimate authority for many years to come."

The political office believes that the only means to prevent Lebanon's downfall is through the solidarity of the parties that have come together to support the election of Jihad Azour, standing as a solid barrier against any attempts to isolate them in side negotiations or bilateral agreements.
